Karma Chameleon
Karma is one of my favorite ( if not my favorite) pieces I have created while studying as an undergrad. He is approximately four feet long and weighs around 10 pounds. He was created for my mixed media class in the fall 2019 semester. The project was to take a book and recreate it into something new. I took several vintage zoology books and used them to papier-mâché Karma. The base of his body, head, eyes, tail, and legs are made from chicken wire, duct-tape and paper towel + flour papier-mâché. He's painted with watercolor ink. He took over a month to create. I chose to create a chameleon because chameleons are my "animal of inspiration", I even have a tattoo of one on my shoulder. Karma was on display in December 2019 and January 2020 at the Carlson Library for the "This is a Book" Exhibition.
